Today I had a realization. I realized that the current colonial government is horrendous in organization and disloyal in all aspects. Just last year, I became the very first mayor of Toronto. It was my greatest achievement after being expelled a total of six times by the Tory majority. I had been constantly re-elected and thrown out as if it didn’t matter. Now a year has gone by, and I’m right back to the beginning. I’ve once again lost my parliamentary seat.
Losing my seat has left me with considerably less work and allowing me with tons of time to think; time to let me consider starting a rebellion. I’ve always had the thought in the back of my mind; however, I’ve never had the time to really think it through. Last week, I published a story on the Constitution, in which I discussed ideas of Jacksonian democracy much like the government in the U.S. I have started planning rebellion along side my partner Louis Joseph Papineau in Lower Canada and I’ve already established close to 500 followers. Finding these followers was much more difficult than I anticipated; however, we will organize and prepare for anything thrown our way. The rebellion of Upper Canada is a work in progress, but we plan to lead an erratic expedition down Yonge Street towards the centre of Toronto and perhaps even to city hall. I believe that even though our forces are small, overtime we will gain support in our quest to change colonial Canada into the Republic of Canada! Join my troops and I on this exhilarating journey for justice and a stable government by contacting me on my twitter @WillM1837.
Keep updated with me to learn about what happens when my rebels and I march towards central Toronto to the house of Lieutenant-Governor Sir Francis Bond Head on our quest to establish the Republic of Canada.
